PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Chertoff Group, a premier global advisory firm, will host “The Three T’s of the Digital Economy: Technology, Threat and Trust” as part of The Chertoff Group Security Series on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto, CA. By convening an influential audience of technology and security leaders and business executives, this event will examine the impact of the “Three T’s” on today’s business strategy, policies and public opinion as industry and government alike seek to enhance security while building trust in today’s interconnected world. Attendees will hear from industry leaders driving today’s technology and security dialogue and interact with like-minded peers who share an interest in making security a business opportunity for their enterprises.

Throughout the day, panel discussions will focus on topics front and center in the minds of executive decision makers including:

  • Examining encryption and the impacts on security innovation
  • Communicating security as a business enabler in the boardroom
  • How the changing venture and investment climate for security affects CISOs
  • Why an identity-centric approach to security has become critical

The event will feature prominent security experts including a keynote discussion with General Michael Hayden, Principal at The Chertoff Group and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency, and panel participation by David Johnson, Associate Executive Assistant Director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. John Stewart, Senior Vice President and Chief Security and Trust Officer at Cisco, will join a panel discussion including Joe Ford, the Executive Vice President and Chief Security Officer for Bank of the West; Kevin Richards, Managing Director, Security Strategy and Risk at Accenture Strategy; and Wendi Whitmore, Global Lead of IBM X-Force Security Services for IBM, to address how security can be translated into business opportunities within today’s boardrooms.

“Most executives understand cybersecurity is more than a technology risk; it’s a business risk. Fewer understand that an organization’s digital strategy is inseparable with its cybersecurity strategy. Through the framework of the ‘Three T’s,’ we expect this event will deliver actionable best practices for those who want to take advantage of these trends,” said Jim Pflaging, Principal and Head of both the technology sector and strategy practice at The Chertoff Group.

Now in its fourth year, The Chertoff Group Security Series provides technology, business and security leaders and managers with an insightful platform for serious discussion around today’s evolving threats, and the ensuing policy considerations impacting today’s digital economy. Through dynamic keynotes and comprehensive panel discussions, participants will hear different points of view relating to security, privacy, and the role of cybersecurity as a competitive differentiator.
