The Chertoff Group Continues its Growth With the Addition of Two Senior Advisors to its Team

Global security advisory firm expands its talented team of industry experts with Julie Dunne and Christopher Hetner.

The Chertoff Group, a global security advisory firm that enables clients to navigate changes in security risk, technology and policy, today announced the appointment of Julie Dunne and Christopher Hetner to its team of esteemed Senior Advisors. Their combined government experience coupled with expertise in the legal and corporate worlds will further expand and amplify The Chertoff Group’s capabilities to address a multitude of client needs.

Julie Dunne brings extensive executive and legislative branch experience on security, acquisition and related supply chain issues. Most recently, she was the Commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) at the General Services Administration (GSA). As Commissioner, she led a federal organization of 3,500 people and oversaw an $18.8 billion budget. She led policy implementation efforts to drive innovation and streamline federal acquisition, including management of a major reform effort for GSA’s largest contracting program. She also led FAS efforts to implement a supply chain security initiative to educate acquisition officials and implement supply chain security laws. Prior to her work at GSA, Dunne served as Staff Director on the Government Operations Subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and as Senior Counsel on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. During her time with the Oversight Committee, she led federal IT oversight projects and two major data breach investigations. She also oversaw supply chain security legislation leading to establishment of the governmentwide Federal Acquisition Security Council (FASC) and as FAS Commissioner, she represented GSA on the FASC.

Chris Hetner is a leader in cybersecurity, risk management and regulatory compliance recognized for elevating cyber risk to the corporate Board level to protect individual companies and critical infrastructure sectors. He is the former Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to the Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Head of Cybersecurity for the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examination at the SEC. His notable contributions include contributing towards the SEC 2018 Interpretive Cybersecurity Guidance and establishing the vision for, and implementation of, the first agency-wide cybersecurity governance structure, threat intelligence program, and incident response capabilities. Hetner has also led efforts across financial, regulatory and government agencies to enhance cybersecurity coordination in the financial services sector. Earlier in his career, Hetner held several leadership roles in the private sector that included Managing Director at Marsh, Wealth and Asset Management Cyber Practice Leader at EY, Global Chief Information Security Officer at GE Capital, and Senior Vice President at Citigroup.
