March 18th, 2010

WASHINGTON – The Chertoff Group, the rapidly expanding strategic security advisory group, is pleased to announce the opening of a London office to support its international client base, together with the appointment of its first London-based Principals.

The Chertoff Group, led by The Hon. Michael Chertoff, former US Secretary of Homeland Security, has grown rapidly since it was established in April 2009, with an outstanding US team which includes: former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency, General Mike Hayden; former Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security Paul Schneider; former Undersecretary of Homeland Security for Intelligence Charles Allen and Undersecretary for Science & Technology Admiral Jay Cohen; former Homeland Security Chief of Staff and Goldman Sachs alumnus Chad C. Sweet; former Chief Medical Officer at Homeland Security Dr. Jeff Runge; and former Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection at Homeland Security Jay Ahern, together with others who among them have expertise in every major area of global security.

The Chertoff Group assists clients with threats related to terrorism, cyber security, fraud, border protection and supply chain security. The firm’s services and expertise include biometrics and identity management programs, information assurance, fraud prevention and investigations, border protection solutions, security engineering and infrastructure protection, crisis management, business continuity programs, and RFID-based supply chain protection. Within the security industry, the Chertoff Group also provides mergers and acquisitions advice, target identification and qualification, and due diligence support.

The Chertoff Group’s international reach has now been significantly enhanced through the appointment of Graham Love, previously CEO of QinetiQ, and Sir David Veness, the former United Nations Undersecretary General for Safety & Security and former Assistant Commissioner of Specialist Operations at Scotland Yard, who will both work out of the new offices at 33 St. James Square, London. It is expected that the UK team will continue to expand in the coming months.

Michael Chertoff, Founder and Managing Principal, said:

“Since founding our group last year, we have found that clients really appreciate the breadth and depth of experience we have to offer, and are increasingly looking for support at an international level. The experience which Graham and Sir David bring to us will expand the services we are able to offer our clients, and our new London office demonstrates our commitment to provide genuinely global support.”
