Jay Ahern is a Principal and Head of Security Services at The Chertoff Group. In this role, he advises clients on a broad range of issues including homeland and border security management, global commerce and supply chain security, critical infrastructure protection, risk management, and strategic planning and implementation.
As a 33 year law enforcement professional and the former acting head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Department of Homeland Security, Ahern was responsible for securing, managing and controlling our nation’s borders. With service in both domestic and foreign locations, Ahern directed the agency’s 58,000 employee workforce to keep terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country, while also carrying out CBP’s other border-related responsibilities.
At The Chertoff Group, Ahern understands the dangers that face America and American businesses that operate around the world. He counsels global clients on how to effectively manage risk while incorporating a proper mix of people, process, and technology to achieve their security goals. Through an intelligence-driven approach, he advises clients on how to secure their most critical assets, train and exercise employees to respond to emergency incidents, create sound frameworks to optimize security operations, and enable security to better serve the enterprise.
