David Leach is a Principal and Head of Private Equity at The Chertoff Group. In this position, Mr. Leach leads The Chertoff Group’s Private Equity business, which provides growth capital to high-growth services and technology companies in the cybersecurity sector. Mr. Leach also provides strategic advice to Chertoff Group clients to help them achieve their growth objectives with a focus on the defense, intelligence, cybersecurity, and government services sectors.
Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Leach was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 13 years in the Investment Banking Division in New York and London. From 2008 to 2014, Mr. Leach was the global sector captain for Aerospace & Defense (A&D), leading coverage, origination and deal execution for A&D clients across a range of M&A, strategic advisory and financing transactions. Additionally, he was a member of the Global Industrials department and the Merger Leadership Group. In 2006 and 2007, Mr. Leach worked in London as an Executive Director in the Industrials & Natural Resources department. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as an Associate and Vice President in the Industrials and Mergers & Acquisitions departments. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Leach worked at Japonica Partners, a boutique private equity firm in Providence, RI.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Leach has advised on over 25 successful M&A transactions, closing more than $45 billion in transaction value across a range of industries, including aerospace, defense, diversified industrials, security and business services. Some of his representative M&A engagements include successful transactions involving Six3 Systems, Wencor Group, Vangent Inc., United Technologies, TASC Inc., SRA International, DynCorp International, L-1 Identity Solutions, Pacific Scientific Aerospace, Kollmorgen Electro-Optical, Finmeccanica and CloudShield Technologies.
Mr. Leach graduated from Tufts University in 1995, magna cum laude and with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 2001. Mr. Leach currently serves on the Board of Directors of Coalfire Systems and Delta Risk. He also is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.
